He is a member of the Brown County and American Bar Associations, as well as the State Bar of South Dakota. Harvey, born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, received his BA, cum laude, and his JD, with honors, from University of South Dakota, Phi Delta Phi. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the South Dakota Law Review and Law Clerk for U.S. District Judge Andrew W. Bogue. Harvey is a member of the Board of Directors of the University of South Dakota Foundation, the University of South Dakota Law School Foundation, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Saint Benedict. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Hatterscheidt Foundation, Inc., is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Great Plains Education Foundation, Inc., and is a member of the Board and Chairman of the South Dakota Board of Regents. He served as General Counsel to Super 8 Motels, Inc., from 1976 to 1993, and has been serving on the Super 8 Motels Franchisee Advisory Board since 1993. He is also past member of the Board of Directors of South Dakota Student Loan Corporation, Education Assistance Corporation, and Norwest Bank South Dakota. |
